NOBODY by Wondergirls (Cover Acoustic)
After touring with the Jonas Brothers last June, it seems that these Korean girls are ready to spread their wonder in the US music scene. Even entertainment blogger Perez Hilton noticed them and says, "They're so fabolous!..i luv it!".
The SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLES writes, "Powered by catchy groove, an all-out marketing frenzy and a wildly addictive internet dance craze, the teenage divas known as the Wondergirls are all set to conquer America!". (Watch their music videos dito.)
And in case you care about their latest activities/US tour dates, just click it here.
But the main feature of this post is of course the awesome acoustic cover of their signature hit, NOBODY. This one is shared by one of my Imeem friend and according to her this was also covered by a Korean!...And personally, mas feel ko ang version na 'to.

American Idol winner KRIS ALLEN NEW SONG!
American Idol Season 8 winner KRIS ALLEN is set to released his debut album on November 17! The highly anticipated first single from the upcoming album is entitled LIVE LIKE WERE DYING (originally recorded by The Script) which you can stream the song below:
Its a bright, positive single not far from what to expect from Kris, based on his American Idol performances- a crunchy, acoustic coffee-house rock vibe ala John Mayer or Jason Mraz. It was pretty clear that this was the type of music Allen wanted to make: fun, upbeat and catchy!
Other Kris Allen cool cover songs:
KRIS ALLEN- MAN IN THE MIRROR
KRIS ALLEN- COME TOGETHER (original by THE BEATLES)
KRIS ALLEN- APOLOGIZE (original by THE FRAY)
KRIS ALLEN- SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY (GLORIA GAYNOR)

AVRIL LAVIGNE newz
There's a lot of buzz going on in the entertainment world lately...
There's the very successful comeback album of my all-time fave diva Whitney Houston, the inclusion of Ellen DeGeneres as the new judge of American Idol, the 2009 VMA Music Awards brou haha, the amazing US TV debut of internet sensation Susan Boyle, the death of a great actor Patrick Swayze, Chris Brown's ala Boy George drama...and the latest, the freshest chizmax from the web, the split-up of pop rock superstar Avril Lavigne and her husband for three years, Deryck Whibley from Sum 41. (Read the details here.)
And speaking of Avril Lavigne, she has a quite good collection of cover songs, and I like it very much coz she work it acoustically and "owned" it. Click the play button and hear what i mean:
Adia (original by Sara Mclachlan)
You were mine (original by Dixie Chicks)
Knockin on heaven's door (original by Guns N' Roses)
Here's an Avril Lavigne original song, her hit single "Complicated" was covered by one of my fave acoustic indie artist BEN GIBBARD.

SUSAN BOYLE takes a Rolling Stone Classic
Eversince she appeared in Britain's Got Talent earlier this year, Boyle has become one of the world's most celebrated regular people and inspired many by pursuing her dream of becoming a professional in the entertainment field that mostly rewards the young and the beautiful.
And just recently, she sang the Rolling Stones hit, "Wild Horses" (the first single from her upcoming album, I DREAMED A DREAM out this November) on the US TV show, America's Got Talent. I managed to watch her performance in YouTube and WOW- she was totally amazing! Not only did Susan looks fantastic, her singing and charisma was so moving. She held that crowd in the palm of her hand like few other performers I have seen and heard. I was also impressed that she still looked like herself, and I love the intro as well. It showed the honesty, determination and strength of character she has, as well as a reaching out on a very basic level to anyone who has struggled with life experiences.
Click the play button to hear how phenomenal she is:
Her rise has given the music world an interesting new personality and music lovers a chance to embrace yet another pretty voice...Hope to hear her lovely voice for many many years to come. :D
On the other hand, the song Wild Horses has a lot of versions done by other artists. These are the noted ones:
Dave Mathews Band- Wild Horses
Guns N' Roses- Wild Horses
Jewel- Wild Horses
Garbage- Wild Horses
The Sundays- Wild Horses
and another personal favorite: Alicia Keys and Adam Levine unplugged version of the song:

a CAKE for everyone!
This is one of the few bands where I find myself enjoying literally with their every song.
Although, Cake's music is often classified as alternative or indie rock, their sound combines multiple musical genres such as funk, pop, jazz, rap and country. Most of their song features lyrics with word play accompanied with a rap-like style of lead vocalists/guitarists John Mcrea, catchy distorted guitar rifts by Greg Brown and a solo trumpet by Vince DeFiore.
The band most successful album so far is FASHION NUGGET (1996). The album produced the radio gem, "The distance" which also dominates the charts that time. It was followed by another hit single, this time the Gloria Gaynor song cover, "I will Survive" which I believe their rendition is the best cover of the song. (Check out the amazing live performance here.)
Click and stream their other cover songs here:
STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT
I WILL SURVIVE
PERHAPS PERHAPS PERHAPS
A new studio album is currently in the works and set to be released later this year! John Mcrea describes the still untitled album to be very different from their previous works, also indicating that he will be playing piano much more than usual!...Hmmn that's really exciting! I cant wait for their new CD!

Heartless Kanye?
As im watching the recently concluded 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on TV, I thought it was a joke when Kanye West showed up on stage next to country teen sweetheart Taylor Swift. She's in the middle of her acceptance speech after winning Best Female Video (for the song, You belong with me) when the rapper grabs the mic and declared that Beyonce's popular music video "Single Ladies" should have won instead.
(Watch the video here.)
Taylor look humiliated and Im really felt sorry for her. The audience booed Kanye West though and gave Taylor Swift a standing ovation.
Kanye West has a history of throwing the best tantrums. He has previously made award show rants with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake among others. (Read here.)
But I give credit to Taylor Swift for handling the situation gracefully. She performs her award winning song with a positive vibes and did a great performance. Fortunately, she got another chance to complete her acceptance speech when the ever classy Beyonce won for Video of the year. She said, "This is amazing. I remember being a 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destinys Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
Taylor returned to the stage and said, smiling graciously, "Maybe we can try this again!" then thanks all the fans who supported her all along.

Colbie Caillat covers Pussycat Dolls' DON'T CHA!
"Music is for you to listen to and forget about your worries!"
says Colbie Caillat, whose 2nd album BREAKTHROUGH debuted at #01 spot in the Billboard Hot 200 Album chart. The first single, Falling for you is currenlty one of my favorite song to date and has the highest hits on my Imeem profile!
What so exciting about her new album is that it has full of catchy acoustic songs and has a collaboration with other artists like Rob Thomas and Eurythmics' Dave Stewart!
She's also squeezing a very unlikely track, "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls. Her own version is more soulful like a Marvin Gaye-style but retains the sexy vibes of the song. To know what Im talking about u can stream the song here:
Other artists such as Boyce Avenue did an amazing cover of Colbie Caillat hit single REALIZED, listen it here.

Win or Wit?
Bumili lang naman ako ng pirated dvd ng AND I LOVE YOU SO movie ni Bea Alonzo! And I got it for only P50.00!
New Moon, Dalaw, Villa Estrella...san ka pa?
It was quite a good film. Its not the usual "make-your-audience-kilig" movie. In fact, it actually tickles the emotional side of the viewers kaya naman nag-emote emote din ako. Okey din ang acting ng casts. And of course, okey na okey ang movie theme song of the same title na ang original version ay kay Don McLean.
Listen to Jed Madela's version of And I Love You So:
Excited din ako sa upcoming film na IN MY LIFE, which stars John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano and Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos. Its not because the movie has a gay theme but because it seems like another well-made movie. Trailer pa nga lang e atat mo nang panoorin!...And teen superstar Sara Geronimo made an awesome cover version of the theme song:
And speaking of John Lloyd, I wonder what you think of his style on this pics? Is he win or wit?
YUN NA! :}

Lady Gaga: Manggagaya?
But Irish singer ROISIN MURPHY called Lady Gaga a fraud, and says she stole her look. "She copied my style. I met her about a year ago before she got really big and I had no clue that this was all going to happen." Murphy said.
She was just furious that the American songstress claims that all those oversized hats, thigh high boots, sexy skimpy dress are all part of her original sytle. "She was just a poor imitation of me!".
But later on Murphy issued a statement insisting that she was just misquoted, that some press made a fabricated context on her comments and has really no plan to involve herself into a feud with Lady Gaga.
Hmmn...true or false- here's a pix of the two artists and its up to you to judge if Lady Gaga is really copying the style of Roisin Murphy:Anyway, since were talking about cover songs here - watch this latest performance by Lady Gaga covering the COLDPLAY classic Viva La Vida in an amazing piano acoustic rendition.
