Sugar Ray's new CD and their cover of Kid Cudi's "Day N' Night"

Look who's back!!!...

Mark Mcgrath and his band SUGAR RAY just released a brand new CD after six years of absence (their last record is In the pursuit of leisure in 2003) in the music scene. The album titled Music for cougars is already out in the US (July 21) at ewan ko lang
kung kailan magiging available dito sa Pinas. The first single of that album is "Boardwalk".

With a very hectic and loaded schedule, Sugar Ray will be visible once again promoting their comeback album. Masisilayan na naman natin ang talent with matching kagwapuhan at kamachohan ni Papa Mark!... Isn't that exciting?!

Anyway, since this is all about cover songs--the group just recently covered one of the latest rap hit sa Amerika, a song by Kid Cudi entitled "Day N' Nite".

What's the latest on Britney Spears?...Rumors says that she's currently dating her long time agent named Jason Trawick. And even ex-hubby Kevin Federline made a comment that he's happy about it and wishes Britney a stable relationship with that guy!...Well sana nga natagpuan na niya ang right man sa kanyang buhay. After all the turmoil in her life and career, Britney really deserves to be happy again! Anyway, here's some of her past and present songs covered by other artists- patunay lamang na she's still hot as ever as an artists!

CREEP (Jazz Vesion)

Narinig niyo na ba ang jazz version ng "Creep" by Radiohead?

Jazz artists Karen Souza made an awesome rendition of the song. I'm sure di aakalain ni Thom Yorke (lead vocalist ng Radiohead) na someday magiging jazz ang isinulat niyang kanta. I didnt have much info sa profile ni Ms. Souza but I think she covered "Creep" sometime in early 90's.

Anyway, if u wanna hear what im talking about, click and watch the video here.

Try also to download the mp3 version dito.

This band is known for covering the songs of popular mainstream artists to date. In fairness, their rendition for every song is great and very pleasing to the ear!... Click and stream to their great collection of covers:

My TOP 10 Cover Version .

These are my favorite cover versions as of now. It's a hard choice actually pero sana magustuhan niyo ang lists ko.

10. Utada Hikaru- With or without you (U2 cover)

Japanese diva Utada Hikaru did an amazing job with this U2 classic. Im sure hindi siya mapapahiya pag napanood or narinig ito ni Bono.

9. Travis- Baby, One more time (Britney Spears cover)

Didn't mind the original. This cover is better. Kudos to Travis to take a truly awful pop song and made it to a credible acoustic song.

8. Cake- I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor cover)

I love this band. Isa sila sa pinakamagaling na banda pag live performance na ang pinag-uusapan. Perhaps this is one of the best performance by CAKE.

7. Girlyman- My sweet, Lord (George Harrisson cover)

6. Cyndi Lauper- Carey (Joni Mitchell cover)

I always love Cyndi!...Its just so unortunate that she's not that popular sa younger generation ngayon. When will they recognize how talented she is!!!

5. Jars of Clay- Crazy Love

Jars of Clay is probably the most popular christian band na nakapenetrate sa mainstream music scene. This version is originally done by an artists named Poco.
One of the most beautiful song ive heard.

4. Neil Finn- Billie Jean (Michael Jackson cover)

Hindi ko siya kilala until i heard his cover on Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". And former band leader pa la siya ng bandang Crowded House. Astiiig!

3. Ari Hest- Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover)

This one is the most covered song by Leonard Cohen. But Ari Hest version is my favorite. I would not mind if I heard this song before I went to bed for the rest of my life. Its just so amazing!

2. Tori Amos- Desperado (Eagles cover)

She's really my idol!...I really love her rendition of this Eagles classic. the best version by a female. She's freakingly amazing!

1. Fiona Apple- I Want You (Elvis Costello orig.)

A bloody interpretation of Elvis Costello song. I'm really having a goosebumps everytime na naririnig ko ang kantang to. Sa video niya- inggit na inggit ako na sana andun ako sa audience while Fiona's nailing this song!!!.

I absolutely adore her!...She's so intense and passionate. She really loses herself in the song.

What more can I say?...Gustong-gusto siya ng mga teenagers kong pamangkin. Even me na thirty something already e feel ko rin ang mga music niya.

Taylor Swift proves that she's not just your ordinary teeny bopper artists. She plays an instrument, write her own song extremely respectable of her age.

With a smash hit album, FEARLESS, she continues to create waves with another Billboard charttopper single, "You belong with me".

Kaya naman i'd like to posts some covers on her music. Her biggest hit, "Love Story" had been covered by a lot of artists. But here's my favorite by Jon Schmidt, a piano version mix with Coldplay's "Viva La Vida".

Alejandro Manzano of BOYCE AVENUE recently did an amazing cover of Taylor Swift's "Breathe". Stream it here:

TAYLOR SWIFT has her own share of covering songs from other artists. A noted one is from the band Better than Ezra.

Sa first entry ko dito sa COVER CORNER blog, I decided to feature an ICON na talaga namang maraming naiambag sa music industry. And that's no other than the King of Pop, MICHAEL JACKSON.

I grew up with his music. Naalala ko i even tried to moonwalk like him. Halos lahat yata ng kanta niya ay alam ko pero sino nga ba ang hindi?...

Michael Jackson created a new dimension in amazing entertainer na tanging sya lang ang nakakagawa. A true Music legend no matter what people say about his personal life. I have great respect for MJ and for his work, and I know that people who judge him can never achieve what he achieved in his short life. He is a genius. His work excelled all the negative publicity he got towards the end of his life.

This is a playlists of Michael Jackson's previous hits kung saan nirevived ng iba't-ibang artists ang kanyang kanta tanda ng kanilang respeto at paghanga sa kanyang talento as a performer.
