MORE ABOUT ANAIS

Born in Toulouse, France to a Senegalese father and French mother, raised in Ireland, France, Senegal and California, Anais was quite the cultured globe trotter before she even honed in on her passion as a singer-songwriter. Those travels have undoubtedly influenced her sound; a sound that often recalls the non-conventional rhythms present in her African heritage, the vocal stylings of classic soul and neo-soul artists and the swag of modern R&B. Anais mixes and strips all these things down to their bare essentials, creating quite a captivating aural experience. Now in New York City, at New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Anais is blossoming and constantly refining her craft under the watchful eye of the astute group of professors at the Clive Davis Institute which includes legends like Nona Hendryx (of Labelle), and famed hip-hop producer Swizz Beatz. =)
