This song has been called by VH1 as one of the Top 100 Songs of 90’s, for good rea­son. It’s one of the best made songs lyri­cally and musi­cally. It’s music is haunt­ing, almost pained, and you could feel the pas­sion behind the lyrics. It talks of an expe­ri­ence we’re all famil­iar with–the painful mem­ory of good­bye, the love that could have been per­fect, and the tragedy of the one that got away.

Written by Prince for the band called The Family in the 1980's, the song only appeared on their self titled album, was not released as a single and received little recognition.

But in 1990, Irish singer Sinead Oconnor recorded her own version and become a worldwide hit. Another amazing rendition of the song comes from the band Stereophonics for the charity of War Child Music (2005).

BEATLES COVERS THAT WILL BLOW UR MIND

I thought it would be fun to put together a list of some of the best BEATLES covers out there. They are the most prolific group in the history of popular music and its difficult not to want to give them a space here (not to mention the fact that they wrote a ton of spectacular songs). And its really a big challenge for me to find the flowers amidst the thorns. My choice is geared more towards mainstream artists but I also included some indie musicians to diversify the list.
